![]() I am a dedicated and ambitious artist who is equally passionate about teaching. Aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of the family have worked in public and private school systems and universities throughout Canada, Africa, India and Japan. My grandfather was a Gaelic-speaking Irishman who emigrated to Canada in 1911 and went on to become one of the most celebrated one room country school teachers in Saskatchewan during its formative era. My work as a professor is part of the legacy of my family. She began her undergraduate studies at White Mountain Academy of the Arts, received her MFA from the University of Alberta, has completed a residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts and a Curatorial Residency at the Helen Pitt Gallery in Vancouver. Her curatorial project entitled Fire/fire with works by Abbas Akhavan, Marina Roy, Tsukioka Yoshitoshi and Kawanabe Kyosai was recently exhibited at Centre A and Malaspina Printmakers in Vancouver, BC. Recent exhibitions include the Canadian Digital Print exhibition at the Novosibirsk Graphic Art Triennial in Novosibirsk, Russia and Not Photographs, a two person exhibition with Damien Moppett at Presentation House Gallery Satellite in Vancouver. She has exhibited across Canada and internationally and is currently working on a forthcoming artist book edition commissioned by Presentation House Gallery in Vancouver. She works in print, mixed media, paint, drawing, video and installation. Andrea Pinheiro is an artist and curator. ![]()
